Establishing a fund at the Otsego County Community Foundation is an easy way to invest in our community. You can create a fund that supports a particular need or interest, or one that is multipurpose and flexible. Whichever option you choose, you can be sure that the fund you create will make an impact on community needs.
Giving Options: Choose One That is Right for You
Field of Interest Funds: Choosing a Cause
A Field of Interest Fund allows you to identify a specific charitable area or organization (youth, the arts, the environment etc.) You may add to an existing fund or establish a new fund naming the charitable area of your choice.
Unrestricted Funds: Meeting Ever-Changing Needs
When you establish an Unrestricted Fund at the Otsego County Community Foundation, your gift addresses a broad range of local needs—including future needs that may not be anticipated at the time your gift is made. We evaluate all aspects of community well-being: arts and culture, economic development, education, the environment, health and human services, recreation, youth and more. The flexibility of your unrestricted gift enables the Foundation to respond to the most pressing needs, today and tomorrow.
Donor Advised Funds: Taking Charitable Giving Personally
When you establish a Donor Advised Fund at the Otsego County Community Foundation, you have the opportunity to recommend grants to charitable organizations. (The Board remains free to accept or reject donor suggestions.) You can work with our experienced staff to suggest ongoing uses for your fund, targeting the issues you care about most. Grants are issued to nonprofit organizations in your fund’s name. A Donor Advised Fund is a simple, powerful and highly personal approach to giving.
Agency Funds: Endowing Your Nonprofit Organization
Establishing an Agency Endowment Fund is a simple and efficient way to build income for your nonprofit organization. Your donors can be sure they are providing a source of lasting support. Your fund becomes part of the Otsego County Community Foundation’s pool of endowed assets. The economies of scale work to provide your organization the benefits of a diverse investment portfolio that typically comes only with large funds.
Designated Funds: Supporting and Organization for the Long Term
Designated Funds are similar to Agency Funds in that you can name a specific charitable organization as recipient. Through the Otsego County Community Foundation, you may add to an organization’s existing endowment or create one for them to provide a source of lasting support.
Scholarship Funds: Furthering Education
When you establish a Scholarship Fund, the Otsego County Community Foundation connects those dollars with deserving local students who are pursuing further education.
