These individuals, families, businesses and organizations have created charitable legacies by establishing funds at the Otsego County Community Foundation.

We are honored to serve as the steward of these gifts, and grateful for the opportunity to help these donors make their philanthropy personal, meaningful and fulfilling. Click on the tabs below to view our lists of funds.

Organization Endowments


Organization Endowments are established for the benefit of designated nonprofits, educational or religious institutions. Individual donors or the nonprofits themselves may establish these funds, which provide support now and enhance the resources the organizations will need in the future.

  • Treetops Charity Fund – supporting nonprofits throughout the county
  • William and Linda Muzyl Fund – carrying out the local philanthropy of the Muzyl family
  • Vanderbilt Fund supporting the Vanderbilt Success Program, which encourages students to continue training beyond high school by awarding those who have  prepared properly and been accepted into an appropriate program

Field of Interest

Field-of-Interest Funds enable donors to focus their giving on the issue or cause they care about most.

  • Arts and Culture Fund- support projects and programs to enhance art and culture
  • Education Endowment Fund – awards grants to educational programs throughout the county
  • Otsego County Cops Fund- supports the youth in Otsego County
  • Ron Chavey Friendship Fund- supports organizations who assist with housing and basic needs
  • UAW Local 388 Educators Fund- provides grant for educators’ to enhance classrooms
  • Youth Fund – awards grants to programs that impact youth in Otsego County

Scholarship

Scholarship Funds support undergraduate and graduate education, professional development and other educational enrichment opportunities.

  • Irene Angus Science Scholarship Fund – awarded to college students pursuing a science degree
  • Athel Eugene & Helen Williams Scholarship Fund – awarded annually to two students pursuing a degree in nursing or medicine
  • Butcher Scholarship Fund – awarded to students who excel in academics
  • Carol Miles Granlund Scholarship Fund – awarded to a student pursuing elementary education
  • Don & Helen Crandall Scholarship Fund – awarded to a student pursuing secondary education
  • Don Skop Memorial Scholarship Fund – awarded to a student pursuing vocations or skilled trades
  • Edward and Frances Burzynski Scholarship Fund – awarded to students pursuing degrees in agriculture, animal husbandry, and related fields
  • Freel Family Fund – awarded to a student who excels in academics and demonstrates need
  • Gaylord Soccer League Scholarship Fund – awarded to two students annually, one male and one female
  • Harold & Norma Elgas Reach Scholarship Fund – awarded to a student who demonstrates need
  • Jason Mead Scholarship Fund – awarded in memory of Jason Mead, a graduate of Gaylord High School, to a student who has participated in music activities (curricular or extra-curricular) activities and plans to attend an accredited college, university or institution of higher learning. Open to GHS and St. Mary graduating students.
  • Kathryn Tripp Scholarship Fund – awarded to a student pursuing a degree in education. Additionally, the fund provides scholarships for sixth grade camp at GIS, a passion of Kathryn Tripp
  • Katie Krug Scholarship Fund – awarded to a student who has demonstrated outstanding effort volunteering
  • Kyle Casey Scholarship Fund – awarded to an outstanding GHS defensive or offensive lineman
  • Louis and Rose Marie Tebbe Fund –awarded to a hard working student.  Preference given to students of military families or those pursuing a medical career.
  • Treetops Scholarship Fund- awarded to  Otsego County residents that are pursuing higher education at either vocational or academic institutes. Preference given to students who have or are overcoming some kind of adversity, students that are interested in the hospitality field or those that have relatives that are or have been employees of Treetops Resort.

Unrestricted

The Community Foundation depends on its unrestricted resources not only to proactively address the changing needs of the Otsego community, but also to facilitate innovative responses to community problems and enhance the quality of life for all residents.
