Designated Funds are established for the benefit of designated nonprofits, educational or religious institutions. Individual donors or the nonprofits themselves may establish these funds, which provide support now and enhance the resources the organizations will need in the future.

  • Gaylord Area Council for the Arts Fund – supporting the efforts of the Gaylord Area Council for the Arts
  • Gaylord Community Field Fund – supporting the maintenance of the community field
  • Headwaters Chapter – Trout Unlimited Fund – supporting the efforts of the Headwaters Chapter of Trout Unlimited
  • Herman Lunden Memorial Fund – supporting the Pigeon River Discovery Center
  • Jim Mongeau Alpenfest Fund –  supporting the programs of Alpenfest
  • Kiwanis Club of Gaylord Community Fund – supporting the efforts of the Kiwanis Club of Gaylord
  • Mark Brown Fund – created in memory of an avid sportsman. The fund will award grants to the Northland Sportsmen’s Club to introduce youth to hunting
  • Otsego Christian School Fund – supporting the efforts of the Otsego Christian School

  • Ron Chavey Friendship Fund – supports organizations that assist with housing and basic needs.
  • Stephanie J. and Brian L. Quaal Mental Health Fund –  supports organizations dedicated to improving mental health.
  • TACKLE Fund – supports organizations that bring comfort to local cancer patients.
  • UAW Local 388 Educators Fund – supports programming initiated by pre-K through 12th-grade teachers.
  • Vanderbilt Student Success Fund – supports students in continuing training beyond high school by awarding those who have prepared properly and been accepted into an appropriate program.
  • Youth Fund – supports programs that impact youth in Otsego County.

Scholarship Funds support undergraduate and graduate education, and other educational enrichment opportunities.

  • Athel Eugene & Helen Williams Scholarship Fund – awarded annually to two students pursuing a degree in nursing or medicine
  • Butcher Scholarship Fund – awarded to students who excel in academics
  • Captain Nicholson Scholarship Fund – Awarded to a student from a small community with big dreams. Open to  Johannesburg-Lewiston schools.
  • Class of 2007 Scholarship Fund– awarded to a GHS senior that embodies the characteristics that are important to the Class of 2007: school spirit, hard work, and inclusivity
  • Don & Helen Crandall Scholarship Fund – awarded to a student pursuing secondary education
  • Don Skop Memorial Scholarship Fund – awarded to a student pursuing vocations or skilled trades
  • Edward and Frances Burzynski Scholarship Fund – awarded to students pursuing degrees in agriculture, animal husbandry, and related fields
  • Freel Family Fund – awarded to a student who excels in academics and demonstrates need
  • Harold & Norma Elgas Reach Scholarship Fund – awarded to a student who demonstrates need
  • Irene Angus Science Scholarship Fund – awarded to college students pursuing a science degree
  • Kathryn Tripp Scholarship Fund – awarded to a student pursuing a degree in education. Additionally, the fund provides scholarships for sixth-grade camp at GIS, a passion of Kathryn Tripp
  • Louis and Rose Marie Tebbe Fund – awarded to a hard-working student.  Preference is given to students of military families or those pursuing a medical career.
  • Treetops Scholarship Fund – awarded up to four years to current Treetops Resort employees, dependents of current employees, or immediate family of current employees who have been employed for at least one year and have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Preference is given to those employees with multiple years of employment and students earning a degree in hospitality, food & beverage, PGA golf management, turf management, or hotel management. Open to all Otsego County graduating students.

Funds for the Community are a collection of funds established and grown by generous individuals, families, and businesses, complementing the Community Fund. These funds are unrestricted and ensures a better future for all by pursuing the community’s greatest opportunities and addressing the most critical challenges.
