Fun and Festive Extreevaganza Casino Royale

Treetops Resort hosted Extreevaganza Casino Royale on December 1st.  “The management and staff out did themselves turning the Convention Center into a Casino complete with lights, sparkles, and attendees all dressed to impress. Everyone that attended had an amazing time listening to the Gaylord High Choir, playing casino games, and  bidding on live auction items. ” noted Karin Beyer, Community Liaison of the OCCF.

“I had such a great night at Extreevaganza this year, the Community Foundation and Treetops Resort did a wonderful job!  My friends and I had a blast playing the casino games throughout the night. I love having a night that we can get dressed up and have fun while supporting such an important organization! ” noted Sara Shurlow.

A new feature was a room showcasing organizations who have received grants from the Community Fund this year.  As the attendees toured the room they saw pictures of grants in action and were able to listen to the stories recorded by Rob Weaver of Eagle 101.5 on MP3 players. “While walking through the doors of Extreevaganza and reading all the impact stories it was at that moment it hit us that the Community Fund of the OCCF is touching so many lives on so many levels.” stated Sue and Mike Cavanaugh. “As we left the impact room we commented on how it reminded us of a favorite quote by Frances Moore Lappe’ ,”Every choice we make can be a celebration of the world we want.”

The final event was the Foundation Finale sponsored by Hogan’s Jewelers.  With a bonus incentive from the William and Linda Muzyl Fund which issued a challenge that would add fifty cents to every dollar contributed, $12,750 was raised. ” To hear the quiet in the room as people raised their paddles to just give with nothing in return is the true spirit of Christmas and philanthropy” stated Eyrn Maertens.

“We continue to be amazed by the generosity of Treetops Resort.  They shared countless resources including staff and services.  With their leadership role our staff was able to remain focused on our mission and as a result of the two organizations working together there will be a record number of grant dollars awarded to local organizations in 2018 and because the Community Fund is an endowment, Treetops philanthropic efforts will continue to impact Otsego County forever,” said Dana Bensinger, Executive Director.
