Shop Small is a nationwide movement to celebrate small businesses every day and to help communities thrive. Small Business Saturday is a day dedicated to supporting small businesses across the country. Founded by American Express in 2010, this day is celebrated each year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

By choosing local and independent businesses for your shopping, dining and other needs, you not only enjoy a distinctive experience, your’re also helping the community that you live in by:

  • Building Community: The casual encounters you enjoy at local businesses and the public spaces around them build relationships and community cohesiveness.
  • Strengthen Your Local Economy: Each dollar you spend at independent businesses returns almost 50 times more money to your local economy than buying from an online mega-retailer. This is a benefit that we can all bank on.
  • Give Back To Your Community: Small businesses donate  to local non-profits, events and teams .
  • Create Jobs and Opportunities: Not only do local businesses employ people, they also are the customers of local printers, accountants, farms, etc., expanding the opportunities for local entrepreneurs.
  • Enhance Local Democracy: Local businesses means residents with roots in the community are involved in key development decisions that shape our lives and local environments.

Please support your local businesses this Small Business Saturday…and throughout the year.
