  1. What attracted you to become involved with the OCCF?

    I was president of the Otsego Education Trust when we merged the two organizations. I joined the OCCF and have been involved ever since.

 

  1. In your opinion, what is the most important work that this organization does?

          Allows everyone in the county to become involved in taking are of each other.

 

  1. What’s it like to volunteer for the OCCF?

           It is easy and fun and allows you to hang out with like-minded people.

 

  1. What OCCF committees have you been involved with?

            Education Committee

 

  1. What do you hope the organization will achieve soon? In the long term?

            Shortly I hope the organization can establish a viable education fund. In the long run, I hope the foundation                 receives enough funds to self-sustain major donations.

 

  1. Does anyone in your life play a role in supporting your involvement? In providing inspiration?

    My husband Dave, is always supportive in the donations we make.

 

  1. What do you wish other people knew about OCCF?

            It’s for all of us.

 

  1. Do you have a message to share?

    Almost everyone in our community has been touched by the foundation. It’s easy to become involved and give back.

 

 

  1. What would you tell someone who is thinking about volunteering for the OCCF?

    DO IT!

Short Bio on Jill Miner:

Jill Miner owns Saturn Booksellers in downtown Gaylord. She serves on the OCCF Education Committee and has established the Readers Fund, a donor advised fund with Betsy Sanders. In the past, Jill served on the OCCF board, the Otsego Educational Trust (past president), the GCS Instructional Advisory Council (13 years), GCS Stakeholder Committee (5 years), was co-founder of the Gaylord Gators Swim Team, wrote the proposal to begin swimming as a GHS Varisty sport, MHAA swim referee (10 years), served on the Gaylord DDA board, DMA, Otsego County Chamber of Commerce board, GAGA board, served as  Education Director, Secretary, Vice-President, President and Past President of the Great Lakes Independent Booksellers Association, chaired the compliance committee for the American Booksellers Association and was a member of the ABA Booksellers’ Advisory Council. She has volunteered for many other organizations and causes as well.

She is married to Dave and the proud mother of Meg, Andrew, Kelsey and Karrie.
