Through the generosity of attendees, donors and sponsors, Extreevaganza generates the resources needed for the Otsego County Community Foundation to meet our mission, which is enhancing the quality of life for all citizens by building endowments, awarding grants and convening leaders.

Here are some examples of our mission in action in 2013!

Building endowments allows people to GIVE back to the place they love either by contributing to one of our existing 52 funds or creating a new fund.  This year contributions have come from 91 different individuals, businesses, and families for a total of $76,115.33 of which $52,592.33 is endowed, so it will be invested and continue to GROW our community forever.

Convening leaders provides a way to GATHER with others who care around important topics.  In 2013 we used the results of the Quality of Life Assessment to guide us in our convening efforts.  Partnering with the Otsego County United Way, we hosted four workshops for nonprofits in the area.  These provided low cost, effective professional development for the organizations that work so hard to shape our county.   We also identified the Gaylord Downtown Farmers Market as a catalyst for stimulating local economy, improving our health and creating community.  We gathered vendors, customers, local business owners, and health care professionals to discuss the Market, which ultimately resulting in a $20,000 grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and local funders to be used for market enhancement.  Together, we really can do more to GROW our county.

Awarding grants is a way for donors of all giving levels to GRANT to causes closest to their hearts.  To date a record breaking $140,000 has been granted to 50 organizations for a variety of fields of interest such as economic development, education, families, conservation, literacy, health programs and youth leadership.    Grant making has made it possible for our county to GROW in many ways.  To see the complete list of awarded grants visit www.otsegofoundation.org/grant2013-grant-recipients.

GIVE. GATHER. GRANT. GROW.  That is how we meet our mission.

Thank you 2012 Sponors and Donors!
