National Community Foundation Week – November 12-18

Oct 11, 2024 | All News

Charlevoix County Community Foundation, Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation and Otsego Community Foundation will join in a nationwide celebration, November 12-18, 2024, to recognize the increasingly important role that community foundations play in strengthening Northern Michigan communities.

Community foundations are at the heart of local philanthropy, serving as a bridge between donors and the causes they care about. By pooling resources and expertise, these foundations tackle pressing issues such as education, healthcare, economic development, housing, childcare, the arts, youth, environmental sustainability, and much more. During this week, we invite you to reflect on the lasting impact that collective philanthropy can have on the places we call home.

The Charlevoix County, Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area, and Otsego Community Foundations each have over 30 years of experience and expertise in addressing local needs. Working both independently and in partnership with one another, these community foundations focus resources on the issues that matter most, having a positive impact on the lives of our friends and neighbors right here in Northern Michigan. Through thoughtful grant making to area nonprofits, schools, and municipalities, as well as strategic partnerships across sectors, your community foundations are consistently working to improve life for all in your county. Together our community foundations stand as a powerful reminder of the strength that builds when individuals come together to invest in the well-being of our community.

Community Foundation Week was created in 1989 by former president George H.W. Bush to recognize the work of community foundations throughout America and their collaborative approach to working with the public, private, and nonprofit sectors to address community problems and elevate community strengths.
