OCF Honored with Prestigious Statewide Philanthropy Award

Oct 28, 2025 | All News

We are proud to share that the Otsego Community Foundation (OCF) has been selected to receive the Excellence in Philanthropy Award at the 2025 Governor’s Service Awards, presented by Governor Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan Community Service Commission.

This prestigious honor is awarded to only 13 individuals, businesses, and nonprofit organizations across Michigan who have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to volunteerism, service, or philanthropy. The awards ceremony will take place on November 12, 2025, at the Kellogg Center in East Lansing, where OCF will be recognized alongside other inspiring changemakers from across the state.

“At the Governor’s Service Awards, we get to honor admirable Michiganders who have given their time, talent, and treasures to help others and make our state a better place,” said Governor Whitmer. “They step up for others and work hard to uplift our communities even when nobody’s looking because they know every contribution makes an impact.”

Since its founding in 1994, OCF has been activating generosity to build a stronger, more resilient Otsego County. With over $12 million in assets and $6.7 million awarded in grants and scholarships, the foundation has worked in close collaboration with donors, nonprofits, and community partners to address critical needs and create lasting impact.

OCF’s work spans a wide range of initiatives—from arts and culture to education, conservation, health and human services, and youth development. In recent years, the foundation has led with proactive grantmaking, supporting high-impact partners and leveraging outside funding to drive progress in three key areas: advanced training, attainable housing, and coordinated human services.

We are honored to receive this recognition and grateful to be included among so many inspiring individuals and organizations who are making a difference across Michigan. This award is a reflection of YOU—our donors, volunteers, partners, and neighbors—whose belief in the power of generosity continues to shape and strengthen our community.

Thank you for walking alongside us in this work. We are humbled, energized, and deeply thankful.
