Volunteer Spotlight ~ Austin Spires

May 4, 2026 | All News

This month, we’re happy to put the spotlight on Austin Spires, someone who brings both heart and know-how to his volunteer role with OCF. After moving to Otsego County about ten years ago for his career in wealth management, Austin quickly made Northern Michigan home. Today, you’ll often find him enjoying the outdoors with his wife, Meghan, and their two young kids, soaking up everything our trails, lakes, and forests have to offer.

Austin’s appreciation for this community — and his desire to see it thrive for families now and in the future — is what led him to get involved with OCF. As a member of the Finance Committee, Austin helps ensure OCF’s financial health by supporting strong budgeting, careful oversight, and long-term planning. He’s excited to give back in a way that blends his professional experience with his commitment to serving others. We’re grateful for Austin’s dedication and excited to share more about him below.

1. Tell us a little about yourself.

I moved to Otsego County about ten years ago to pursue my career with Raymond James, where I work in wealth management. Shortly after relocating, I married my wife, Meghan, and today we’re proud parents to two wonderful children — our 3-year-old son, Jack, and our 1-year-old daughter, Charli.

2. What do you love most about living in Otsego County?

I love having easy access to some of the most beautiful natural spaces in the state. Being able to explore Northern Michigan’s trails, lakes, and forests with my family is something I never take for granted.

3. When you think about the future, what are your hopes for our community?

I hope to see our community continue growing in a way that supports families, strengthens connections, and builds on the collaborative spirit that makes Otsego County such a great place to live.

4. What inspired you to volunteer with OCF, and what are you most excited about in your role?

I’ve always admired the tremendous impact OCF has across our community and the way it shines a light on needs that might otherwise go unnoticed. Joining the Finance Committee gives me an opportunity to combine two things I care deeply about — serving others and ensuring strong financial stewardship.
