Welcome to the OCF Team—Katie Warner

Aug 1, 2023 | All News

Please help us welcome our newest team member, Katie Warner, who has joined the Otsego Community Foundation (OCF) as our Administrative Assistant.

The OCF has grown at a steady pace over the past decade. This growth is reflected in all areas of the organization—charitable assets under management, grants awarded, and community leadership, to name a few. To keep pace with the responsibilities associated with this growth, the OCF Board has reviewed our internal capacity to ensure that our people power matched the workload. This effort was balanced with a lean operating budget.

“Our plan has been to add talented, community-minded, part-time staff focused on advancing our strategic goals. In ten years, our team has blossomed from two staff members combining for ¾ full-time equivalents to six staff members, totaling 3.9 full-time equivalents. It is a unique staffing model, but it truly has worked for our team and our community.”

-Dana Bensinger, OCF Executive Director

Adding Katie to the team is part of this plan.

Katie is a native Michigander, originally from Lansing, who chose to move to Gaylord when she and her husband retired from the Navy. During her twenty years of military service, Katie held different administrative roles, giving her an impressive breadth of experience. When she retired, Katie was the Yeomen and Personnel Specialists Manager in Virginia Beach. Katie and her family have enjoyed the outdoor space and activities of Northern Michigan since their move in June 2020. She and her husband share two sixteen-year-old sons who will be starting their junior year at GHS in the fall.

Since 2022, Katie has been the Junior Vice Commander of the local VFW chapter. She is an Ambassador with the Chamber of Commerce and recently completed the year-long Leadership Otsego County program.

“Katie is the right fit for the OCF. She has skills that will fill a need and an outgoing, friendly personality. A winning combination for the Foundation.”

-Patty Urban, OCF Finance and Operations Manager

We are excited to have Katie share her experience and skills with the OCF. We know she will be an excellent addition to our team!
