In this edition of Foundation Matters, we shine our OCF Volunteer Spotlight on Board Member and Finance Committee member Merisa Campbell. Merisa has lived in Northern Michigan since 1998, after meeting her husband Linc Campbell. The two share three adult children—Ceasen (24), Cordel (20), and Carlee (19). Merisa works as the Director of Finance for Johannesburg-Lewiston Area Schools, and she enjoys camping and reading, especially when she can combine the two! Merisa’s favorite—camping at Otsego Lake in the fall and reading by a roaring fire. Her biggest pet peeve is noisy chewing. It makes her skin crawl. You have all been warned. 😊

Here is more about Merisa in her own words:

1. What do you love about Otsego County?

I love the amenities Otsego County has to offer year-round. I am a big summer girl, so for me the beaches and camping are my favorite. But I appreciate all that winter had to offer for my kids as they were growing up. There are so many safe places for them to be with friends, movies, bowling, skiing, etc.

2. What are your hopes for Otsego County?

I hope the county continues to grow while keeping its relatively small-town feel. I hope the housing group can find success with adding housing options. It is difficult to bring in employment opportunities with housing being such an issue.

3. What are you looking forward to working with the OCF?

I want to learn about ways to help improve opportunities for the people of the county. I am hoping to increase participation in and awareness of the opportunities the foundation provides.

We are so grateful for our OCF Volunteers like Merisa who choose to share their unique energy, talents, and time to help us activate generosity for a strong community. We could not do it without you. Thank you!
